Dear White America: Wilson had ZERO reason to murder Mike
Spread this like wildfire
A customer in the store called 911 during the robbery. The store owners do not wish to press charges because they don’t want to be wrapped up in the media debacle that is Ferguson right now. It’s not like he didn’t rob the store, the store owners are just not following through on a claim out of either fear or apathy.
Also, there are many blacks who feel as though there wasn’t a race issue in the Mike Brown shooting. Saying “Dear White America” is inherently racist. Maybe “dear conservatives”? There are still many conservatives, black and white, who believe LE harassment and incarceration rates aren’t lopsided against minorities.
It’s hard to stay central on Ferguson. I fully believe prejudice lead to stopping Michael Brown, even if the officer wasn’t conscious of it. I think Michael Brown attacked the officer, but not an attack that warranted deadly force. I think Michael Brown’s size as well as his race lead to the drawing of the gun, even if they were apart and not near in each other. I also believe that the majority of what we see on the news is political posturing and money making and people not giving a fuck what actually happened to Michael Brown. From Don Lemon’s actors posing as police, Al and Jesse’s fake sympathy, and now there’s news that a judge is looking at “definitely incriminating” evidence that Holder paid gang members to start riots… these are tactics that are used time and time again for good television and distractions. If they actually want to promote an anti-militarization of police or end LE racism they would focus on the many, many other police brutality cases that have been going on. One I keep in my mind is the case of the flash grenade that landed in an infant’s playpen.
That being said, I like to look at things on a case to case basis. While I do think there’s many police brutality and censorship cases, there are things that “enrage” the left-online community for absolutely no reason. There was a video I saw on youtube that was going viral… a woman got into a confrontation with a police officer who tried to get her to turn off her camera while she was filming an accident on a beach. The woman was enraged and spouting the usual “I know my rights” BS. What really pissed me off about this video is that she was filming a patient being attended to by paramedics. She wasn’t filming the officer, she was invading the privacy of a patient. As a paramedic I can’t not be pissed off by that and I respect the police officer for putting up with her shit. But what was more infuriating was the comments condemning the officer. You have every right to film a police officer, but filming someone who may have just been seriously injured and may have had to been stripped by the medics… that’s just disgusting.
I’ve rambled on too long for just a response to an out of context blog post. Anyway, here’s something else that popped in my news feed today from a local station. http://www.wafb.com/story/26364569/video-obtained-after-pastor-naacp-claim-police-mistreatment?clienttype=generic&mobilecgbypass
The militarization of police is real and needs to be stopped. Law enforcement racism is real, even if its just a subconscious prejudice that officers don’t realize they have. More minorities are busted for non-violent crimes than whites. And I’d rather people look at the Rand and Rons and Bookers and Ben Carsons of the world who propose actual ideas on how to fix our broken system, rather than listen to the Al and Jesse’s and get mad without offering any real solution.
